A doodler from birth, it’s a rare occcasion where I've been truly bored as I keep a pen or pencil on me at all times. And who needs paper when the world is full of napkins at restaurants, margins of school books or essays, unassuming pieces of wall/ furniture (sorry mum) - all blank canvases for your very own masterpiece.
You only have to see the grip with which I clutched my glitter smell pen (IYKYK) to see just how seriously I took doodling.
I chose to study engineering with a future profession in mind that was something similar to the dad in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang who invents his crazy egg cooker à la Rube Goldberg (video link), with perhaps a little more societal impact than the perfectly fried egg and sausage.
I graduated with a Masters in Biomedical Engineering, which bridged my interest in creativity and design with a fascination for human anatomy. I doodled my way through lectures, exams and subsequent jobs, of course.
And when the world came to a halt with the pandemic, I picked back up the dusty old paintbrushes to pass away some of the time confined to my 5km radius.
Over the last few years, I have developed my skills using new mediums and while I mainly focus on portraiture I can be easily distracted to do anything from wedding invitations to painting bees on denim jackets.
